7. Have you optimized CSS?

A good Plugin to use is WP Minify Fix: http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-minify-fix/. Simply Activate it.

What the plugin will do is Minify all your items. In short, it will remove all the white spaces from all your files.

Compacting HTML code, including any inline JavaScript and CSS contained within it, can save many bytes of data and speed up downloading, parsing and execution time.

The above will fix these problems on most sites:

  • Convert small CSS files into one large file or bring in-line
  • Minify CSS
  • Move inline style blocks and <link> elements into the head vs. body
  • Avoid CSS @import
